Brandon Flowers - Flamingo - pre-order

You still have time to get your pre-order in for Brandon Flowers' debut solo album, Flamingo, before it is released early next month.

Brandon & Co. are offering up some special packaging to eager audiophiles and those with a little cash to roll the dice on. It's not much of a gamble, because from what we've heard so far, Flamingo is a sure-thing.

The least expensive U.S. pre-order package is available for $24.99 and includes a Deluxe version of Flamingo and pretty sweet 10" picture disc 33.3 LP of "Crossfire." The "super deluxe bundle" tops out at $124.99 before s&h and includes the full length, deluxe edition Flamingo LP, "Crossfire" 10" Picture Disc, a hand signed Limited Edition Las Vegas Lithograph (but they don't say whose hand signed it Sweet! The store now says it's signed by 'Brandon.' Hopefully it's not a staffer by the same name. Ha!), a Brandon Flowers Diamond t-shirt, and an instant gratification MP3 download of the lead single, "Crossfire" which most of you should already have. A lighter full selection is (also) available for folks in the other areas of our fine globe.

You can grab your own bag of goodies at the BFWS

Click past the break to see the full Flamingo track list and for the official "Crossfire" video which includes special guest appearances from a certain bunch of ninjas and none-other-than Charlize Theron.

R&R Drum Solo Friday - Robert Sweet

Robert Sweet Drums Pearl

Certainly one of the most visible drummers of the 80's and not the type to slow down, Robert Sweet has been going "Full Steam Ahead" since he first hit the scene back in '82. The picture above played a massive role in influencing me to play drums, as I am sure it had for hundreds of others.

Probably best known for his role as the "Visual Timekeeper" for Stryper, Robert has played in several bands, including a Rod Stewart tribute band. However, no one can ever mistake his outlandish kits for another drummer or his heart for anything other than belonging to God.

my words (almost) exactly!

"The iPhone Antenna Song" - Lyrics by Jonathan Mann

here's an awful lot of hoopla
around the iphone 4 antenna
when you grip it with the death grip
and you're call slips away

the media loves a failure
in a string of success
the facts won't ever matter
if they can make bigger messes

sure i can make it happen
but in terms of daily usage
i've yet to drop a call
so this whole damn thing is stupid

and you can call me a fanboy
i've been called worse things
but gizmodo just ridiculous
pulling their anti-apple strings

you bought a stolen prototype
get over it and move on
or hey even better
let's all sing this song

Apple's explanations:

Video of the press conference, so you don't have to hear that dishonest, negative crap from competitors bent on Apple's demise. Plus, it's always better to hear it from the horses mouth.
