We've no clue who this band is or just why they want to flood our inbox with mp3's and concert dates and press releases, but we suspect it has something to do with ROCK. Apparently they were on P.O.D.'s indie label Rescue Records at one point and have put out somewhere between 2 and 15 albums, but we can only find two listed on iTunes, Realize and Sink Your Teeth ep.
"2 years ago today my whole life changed. He was not coming home. Half of my heart died right along with the love of my life. Such a great man and best husband gone too soon. I'll never understand it. Today is a day of remembrance and honor to a great hero. I love you and will forever carry you in my heart." - Hillary Vallejo

“The creation of music is a rare right of passage binding impression to melody, flesh to soul, the tangible to the intangible. For the next twelve months, I seek to write, play and experience music with people in the context of other cultures I do not know as intimately as my own.” Four years ago, Wheeler Sparks submitted these words to the Watson Foundation in what proved to be a successful endeavor to obtain a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. He then embarked upon a trek across the globe to study the distinct musical cultures of Ireland, Spain, Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, India, China (Tibet) and Mongolia.
Another definition of a hero is someone who chases their dream no matter what and that is exactly what this weeks' R&R Hero of the Week is doing. Alexx Calise, a Fort Laurderdale native, is in LA chasing her dream to be a rockstar. Alexx started at an early age writing songs and playing guitar. She has had her eye on her dream for a long time. What an inspiration. What a hero. I was able to ask her a few questions so we could get to know more about this week's hero, Alexx Calise.
