Charlie Hall The Bright Sadness

One of the most personal looks at a mans journey through life is brought to life through a wonderful work called "The Bright Sadness".  Charlie Hall, Oklahoma native, has really taken us below the surface with his six studio release.  In this album he gets personal and opens his heart about his journey through life with God. When asked about this album this is what he had to say. “... [it] comes from me understanding my ordinary human condition and my deep love for Jesus and the life He brings. It is the accepting of my brokenness and that in the world around me while never losing sight of Christ’s closeness, His free fellowship, His redemption and compassion, His Brightness.”

This album is very out of the box musically, when considering christian worship music. Charlie has really done some expeimenting in the musical composition of "The Bright Sadness" Right off the start this album catches you with a upbeat melodie in chainbreaker. The song " bloom again" has a nice spacey downbeat sound to it which complements the lyrics very well.  "Hookers and Robbers" not just a clever title, but a fitting anthem to the overcoming love of christ. This song gives a real look on how Jesus just wants us to come as we are.

After listening to this album, I highly recommed this album to anyone who wants to see a real personal look on what can be done to the soul when it is touch by uncconditional love. It is hard for me to say this but I actuall enjoyed every song on this album and I appreciate the fact that charlie hall took a chance musically on this album to bring something fresh to a cookie cutter christian music industry.

Hats off

I worshiped with Charlie Hall about 4-5 years ago at a college event, and really loved his music, his passion, and his speaking. I bought his album then, but haven't followed him since. I'm not too into Christian music these days, but this sounds like a great album to check out. Thanks!
