Doug Burr album cover

If you're looking for the perfect album to put you into a peaceful and meditative state of mind... On Promenade is just that. With his lilting melodies and poetic sincerity, Doug Burr is truly timeless, and this has quickly become the first thing I reach for after an exhausting day at the office.

Hailing from Denton, Texas, Doug Burr has gained impressive acclaim over the last couple of years, and it doesn't seem likely his star will fade any time soon. I first learned of him through a few friends who are local artists themselves and had gotten to know him and seen him play several times around Denton and Dallas. I finally got my opportunity to see him perform and meet him a couple of months ago, and... my, was it worth the wait. Throughout the entire set I sat with my head bowed, eyes closed and shed more than a few tears. Then I immediately walked over, shook his hand and bought this, his latest album.

Since that time, I've listened to On Promenade several dozen times, and I've yet to grow weary of a single track. Some of my favorites are "Slow Southern Home" and "Thing About Trouble," but I honestly love every track. I'm excited to see Doug Burr continue to go far, as I've no doubt he will. Not only is he a brilliant, humble artist... but he's also a local boy, and I can't deny the pride I take in seeing someone I've watched and heard grow locally make it big.
