Katy Perry - Skankiest Female Music Artist?

This is not what you would call a "review" but more of a rant.  So be aware.

Kety Perry Cherry BoobsKaty Perry has been around for a while now.  At first I was thinking that she would quickly disappear from the forefront after her bi-curious world debut, but I guess I was wrong.  I really have nothing to gripe about with the sound that she puts out there -- just a good pop vibe with a sultry voice.  It's actually pretty darn catchy and I find myself with these songs stuck in my head.  Before I know it, I am singing some pretty darn explicit innuendo and bobbing my head.  And I guess that is fine, but sheesh, I got the Teenage Dream album this week and am kind of grossed out with the lyrical content.

I mean, "Peacock" is seriously about Katy Perry wanting to see a dude's dangle (penis).  The entire song.  "I'ma peace out if you don't give me the pay off" is a lyric that really is shows a gender-role reversal to that much of what some rap is doing these days.  I guess I do not see the class in saying "I demand to see your goods under your clothes." And even further, "Hummingbird Heartbeat" is another innuendo laced song describing (from what I gather) cunnilingus and fellatio between her and another un-named dude.  The other tracks are consistently promoting her promiscuous image like that I am sure you are aware of in "California Girls" and "Teenage Dream."  However, I guess I should congratulate her for discovering so many ways to say "sex is fun and feels good!"

Don't give me the "Stop saying this about her!  She is just in touch and liberated sexually!" -- she knows the cost of her image and this is it.  There is a difference with publically talking about how you like sex - and even a bigger difference when you publish and perform the stuff.  I just hope to see something else besides sex from this girl; because to me, a skank is someone who is constantly preoccupied with sex with whoever they can do it with.  And that is why I am posing the question "Is Katy Perry the skankiest female music artist today?"  I know we have Britney Spears to compete with too; with her songs about threesomes and all.  Madonna may have the lifetime achievement skank award too... The Pussycat Dolls may beat her in volume... Kelis is perverse AND bossy... Throw out your opinions, I may not be that well informed. [VOTE HERE!!!!]

I guess my rant really does not totally rest with Ms. Perry I suppose.  I feel like our culture has become way too desensitized to the concept of sex in any context.  Katy Perry (or I guess the record execs. really) is taking advantage of our horny youth with these pheromone filled songs.  They know if she strips down to next-to-nothing, bounces around, and sings about something that sounds like 'doin' it' and it will go platinum these days.  I just wish that it would be treated like burlesque and not for common public consumption for the elementary and middle schoolers in my neighborhood.  Before you know it they will be thinking "Let's go all the way tonight - No regrets, just love" like the song they heard on the radio with the other 8 year old down the street.  the problem is that Katy Perry does not have a big enough of a stigma attached to her like the filthy rap that says comparable things about girls.

The sex trick is cheap - especially in the context of our addicted culture.  I just want to hear some real stuff -- real emotions -- real hate -- real pain -- real love -- real passion.  But hey, prostitution has been proven to be a rather profitable form of income if that is what you are going for.
