Local Natives

The Local Natives, a indie band based out of Los Angeles, Ca. Since forming in 2008, they have been making quite a buzz with the industry.

The band came together in Orange County where Klcey Ayer, Ryan Hann, and Taylor Rice grew up. When they finished high school they met, Andy Hamm (their bassists) and Matt Frazier (Their Drummer) and moved to Silver Lake.

Once they found house they started working on their debut album, Gorilla Manor. This was a self-funded project that was recorded by Raymond Richards at his West LA Studio, Red Rocket Studio.

When the Local Natives work, they work together. Everything is a collaboration with this band. From artwork to songwriting, they all have a say.

They named the album Gorilla Manor after their house in Orange County because of its filth and the fact that they always had friends over messing with their instruments. When asked about that time Hann says, "It was an incredible experience and I will never forget that time."

The Local Natives started to get a lot of attention after playing nine shows at the 2009 SXSW Music Festival. Since those shows they have been compared to Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire and Vampire Weekend. To be compared to those names is big when thinking about the indie music scene. On that alone this band is one to check out.
