Broken Bells, an American rock band, brings us great music from the City of Angels. This musical masterpiece is composed of Brian Burton, who you may know as Danger Mouse, and James Mercer, who you may know from indie kids, The Shins. These two indie giants have joined forces to bring us possible one of the biggest indie side projects ever.

In 2008, Mercer and Burton started secretly recording in Burton's Los Angeles -based studio. When asked they describe their music as experimental but melodic.

In December of 2009 they released their first single, "The High Road." Broken Bells announced the release of the single in a different way than I have ever heard of. They sent an email to their fans that the single was out. I kind of dig it. It is a little more personal than announcing it on a website or through twitter. I know what your thinking: "When did we get to a place in time where email is persona?"

Anyways this is definitely a new band you should check out. They are pretty rad.

Their debut album Broken Bells is out now. With Mercer's laid back vocals and Burton's honest beats, this album is a must for all music lovers.
