It looks like Stone Temple Pilot is up to something more than just a comeback tour.  When Scott Weiland was asked if a new album was in the works he said " only if he didn't do it on a major record label."  Since bands seem to make more money doing a distribution deal only, STP wants to try that route on their new self-titled album. Well, it looks like Scott got his wishes and we are going to get a new STP album. Universal Music Publishing just singed a world wide deal with Scott for all of STP catalog and their upcoming album. It is a win win situation for all of us, well except for Atlantic Records. “We are so thrilled to now be representing the entire band, as Stone Temple Pilots have made a brilliant new album and are one of the seminal rock artists of our generation,” said Universal Music Publishing Group CEO David Renzer. 

STP's new single is already creating a buzz. With a hint of the 60's, the new single "Between the Lines," has already climbed to the No. 3 spot on Billboard's (Neilsen) Alternative Songs Chart. It looks like STP is on path for a great comeback to the music scene. STP - STP lands on May 25th, 2010.
