It’s official: I have a new favorite song. While watching The Totally Rad Show (a GREAT video podcast where the three hosts discuss geek culture topics such as movies, TV, video games and comics) this week, they discussed the trailer for (500) Days of Summer, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and (one of my many crushes) Zooey Deschanel. I could not get over how much I loved the song playing, but didn’t know who it was (and, cheesy voiceover aside, the movie looks really good as well).

I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied until I heard it on its own. So, as many hunts begin, I drove the Interweb over to You Tube to see if anyone discussed the song title and/or band in the comments. Luckily, someone left an “X Marks the Spot” on the third page of comments:

BLESS YOU, NIQUA230, I was thinking, now I just have to find the album and/or song. I first checked the Zune Marketplace, but it was unfortunately devoid of The Temper Trap. So, I checked out MySpace, where my luck returned. I listened to the song (and its remix, which is also on their page) several times, letting it wash over me. It has a certain sonic beauty that would feel at home with Kashmir, or maybe even Mellowdrone.

Of course, now I want more of their music. The hunt continues.
